- Download the installer and open it.
- If Windows says “Windows protected your PC”, click More info and then Run anyway.
- It installs for your user, without asking for administrator rights, with shortcuts on the desktop and in the Start menu.
- The first time, the first-steps guide shows you around. The example shows are in Open ▾ › Examples.
Why does Windows warn?
The installer is not signed with a code-signing certificate yet, and SmartScreen warns about any new unsigned program. Signing it is on the roadmap. Meanwhile you can check that the file is the original: in PowerShell, in the download folder, run
Get-FileHash .\DMXTotalControl-Setup-1.0.0.exeand compare the result with the SHA-256 fingerprint above. GitHub computes it when the version is published, and the program checks it itself on every update.
Updates
The program tells you about each new version and installs it itself after checking its fingerprint. You can turn this off in Options › Updates.
What you need
- A computer with 64-bit Windows 10 or 11.
- To output DMX: a USB DMX interface or an Art-Net or sACN node (compatible hardware).
- Without an interface you can still program and test the show: the DMX levels show in the program itself or in a visualiser over Art-Net or sACN.
Mac or Linux?
For now there is only a Windows installer. The code builds on Linux and macOS with Qt 6: the instructions are in the README. If you need it on another system, tell us: it helps us decide what comes next.
